Welcome to our little world of Doxies! We raise miniature and standard Dachshunds. This site is for those who may be interested in looking at a variety of quality dachshunds for fun, to purchase, or just to browse. We have your typical dachshunds--solid red, black and tan--as well as double-dapple, dapple, red sable, chocolate, chocolate and tan, chocolate and tan dapple, cream, red piebald, black and tan piebald, and brindle. We have smooth and long-haired dachshunds. We invite every new prospective puppy owner to come visit us. Visit our Wild Rose Pet Resort web page at www.wildrosepetresort.com. We currently are looking for a home for some of our adult dogs as we are downsizing our kennel. We have Rosie who is a red eight-year-old female that is not fixed, but is not being bred any more. She is on our Mom's page. We have a rescue dog, Precious, a black and tan female who is 5 years old. She has never had a litter of pups, is not fixed and has AKC papers, but never registered. We have Toto, our cream piebald male. He is six years old and still has years of breeding if one was looking for a good stud. He is AKC and DNA registered, has sired many litters and is on our Dads page. We have Schatz, a black and tan male, who is now ten years old. He, too, has sired many litters, is AKC and DNA registered, and is on our Dads Page. We have Tootsie, a red brindle female, who has whelped five litters and is six years old. She is AKC registered and on the Moms page. We have Beau, a red male, who is four years old. His parents are Toto and Rosie. He is AKC registered. If anyone is interested in adopting any of these dogs, please send us an e-mail. Updated puppy pictures have been posted 5/09//2012. If you're looking for puppies, check here first. When we have puppies, we will invite you to visit our Puppies link to view pictures of any pups that are looking for a new home. If you don't see what you are looking for, send us an e-mail. We enjoy having people come see our moms and dads to check out their temperament beforehand. Hopefully you will find one of our pups reaching out to you! From time to time we do have rescue dachshunds as well. E-mail us if you are interested in adopting a rescued dachshund. Please come back if you're looking for different coloring than what we have listed. You can also visit our Moms and Dads links to see their colorings or e-mail us to set up a time to come out and see the moms and dads to give you an idea on what mix you may want. We feel in person is best so you can see their temperament. We're happy to announce that Idgie went to a great home in Davenport, Iowa. Her new owners report that Idgie is doing well with Sadie, and is learning to live with a cat. Thanks, Diana, for giving us this update. We have a new page, Retired Ladies, which has pictures of our females that we have retired as well as those that have moved on to Doggie Heaven. Elly's last daughter, Heidi, went to join her mom
and sister in doggie heaven after being with us for almost 14 years.
Elly, otherwise known as Elvira's Shadow, Charlie's mom, went to
doggie
heaven in
December.
She would
have
been 16 years
old this coming February. Elly will have a tree planted once the ground
has thawed. On our way to the vet, Charlie, for whom we hold the
Reunion
in celebration of her birthday, went to doggie heaven. She has a pine
tree on our property in her memory. She was one of three puppies
in
our first litter of dachshund puppies. We had to have Sadie, our chocolate
and tan dapple female, put to sleep this spring. She had hurt herself
and we nursed her for two weeks. The vet came for a site visit and
advised there really wasn't anything more we could do for her so
we held her
while she went to sleep. We now have a red maple tree in memory of
Sadie. For Dottie, our cream female, who went to puppy heaven on
March 3, 2006,
we planted a white lilac bush; and for Cassie, our very first dachsie,
went to puppy heaven on September 15th, 2004, she is in the lily
bed
where she really enjoyed playing and sunning. She was almost 16 years
old. Minnie went to puppy heaven on June 14, 2002. Minnie's Memorial
poem and pictures can be seen on our Farewell
link. They will be forever in our hearts.
